Onward Bound to Owen Sound.

Owen Sound is located at the base of Georgian Bay, where you are surrounded by the Escarpment and Water!

Today start at Inglis Falls, this complimentary park has a spectacular waterfall as it’s main attraction.  Parking is located just steps from the falls but is limited.  There is a Mill and grist wheels at the top of the falls beckoning back to the days that this was more that a peaceful park to enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature.  There are good lookout points for you to get great photos of the beauty of the waterfall and trails that you can hike that will take you to Owen Sound’s Harrison Park.

After we stretch our legs, we look for a unique place for lunch that has great food.   Elsie’s Diner fits that bill.  Step back in time to the 1950s with a jukebox, waitresses in bobby socks with their hair in ponytails, soda fountains and Elvis music!  They have decorated the restaurant so that you feel as you are stepping back in time.  The food was good and filled us up for the afternoon adventures.

Next stop dessert in Wiarton.   I have been told about Lloyd’s Smoke Shop and Pool Hall serving smooth creamy ice cream so we had to check it out.  My apprehension of going to a Pool Hall diminished when I stepped through the door.  I saw an ice cream cooler but no pool tables, the pool tables are in the back.  There were about 10 flavors of homemade ice cream, Chocolate Cinnamon, Maple Bacon, Praline Pecan, Bubble-gum and so many more.  The flavors change all the time so every time I visit, I find a new favorite.

To end the day, I recommend Coffin Ridge Winery which overlooks Georgian Bay.  Coffin Ridge is a boutique winery producing high quality small batch wines.  With names such as Bone Dry Riesling, Into the Light White, Back from Dead Red and Forbidden Apple Cider the wines and cider make a great conservation starter as well as a delicious beverage.  Check out their website for upcoming events such as Yoga & Vino or make it stop on the Saints and Sinners trail of Georgian Bay.

A day in Owen Sound, Wiarton and Annan with the cool breezes off the bay makes a great day!
